Welcome to Political Festival of Europe

The day has finally arrived for us to bid you welcome to the first ever edition of Political Festival of Europe!

At 11am this morning, the Festival will be kicked off with opening speeches from Danish Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod, chairman of the board Stine Bosse, mayor of Mariagerfjord municipality Mogens Jespersen, and not least Magrethe Vestager, Vice-President of the European Commission, who is joining on video. The opening speeches will be carried through by Leif Lønsmann, Vice-President of the Danish Helsinki-Committee for Human Rights.

The weather forecast is predicting sunshine and 25 degrees. Throughout Mariager, stages, tents and lounge areas are all in place for an exciting day full of debates, exciting speakers, and musical experiences.

In the town’s cobblestoned streets, you will be able to walk from tent to tent to meet the Festival’s many organising partners. And on the Festival’s various stages you will be able to listen to debates about all sorts of topics all from climate and art to technology and human rights.

All of this will of course be accompanied by a selection of culinary experiences, as well as concerts with bands such as Rasmus Lyberth & Jane Clark, Ole Frimer Band and Channe Nussbaum & Klezmofobia, who will be closing the show.

The Festival Secretariat, the many volunteers and partners are ready to welcome you to the very first European Folkemøde in Mariager. We are looking forward to four great days with high spirits, exciting debates and meetings between people that might not have taken place without the Festival. So please come by Mariager!

In the coming three days the exciting schedule will continure, so if you still haven’t planned your visit, it is not yet too late to do so. We hope to see you at the Festival!

Political Festival of Europe is a central platform for European debates and will take place for the first time from 25 to 28 August 2022 in Mariager. A wide range of debates between European citizens and decision-makers on some of the most pressing issues will take place at the Festival. In addition to the many political events, the Festival will aæsp be a place where visitors can experience music, culture, and food from all over Europe. Our strength in Europe lies in our diversity, but we need a place where we can come together and discuss the future of Europe – that’s why we’re creating the Political Festival of Europe.

Velkommen til Political Festival of Europe
