a place of gathering to celebrate Europe's culture and heritage
and strengthen democracy conversation

Welcome back at Political Festival of Europe

Political Festival of Europe is back after a successful opening day that brought sunshine, enriching conversations and a festive kick-off to the exciting music programme.

Yesterday morning, the Festival was opened with speeches from Danish Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod, chairman of the board Stine Bosse, mayor of Mariagerfjord municipality Mogens Jespersen, and not least Magrethe Vestager, Vice-President of the European Commission.

Vibrant debates between citizens and politicians are important. […] We are all engaged citizens and leaders of the future of Europe and the world. […] We cannot take democracy for granted,

highlighted Jeppe Kofod in his opening speech. Tweet

From morning to late evening, the town was buzzing with life, exciting debates, proactive partners and many guests.

The day came to its end with Channe Nussbaum & Klezmofobia, who played the last concert of the evening on the Europe stage – Channe and her band ensured a top notch atmosphere.

CEO at Political Festival of Europe Jan Bertelsen is thankful for the support visitors have shown to the festival so far, and was very happy with the successful completion of yesterday’s scheduled events:

It's great that the last weekend of August has finally come and that the Festival is here. It's hugely redeeming to see it all play out after many months of preparation. I want to already say thank you to all the volunteers, staff, locals, many partners and sponsors who have been a part of building it all up. The Festival would not be as great as it is now, without all of you,

Today the Festival continues, with exciting debates on topics such as cybersecurity and green energy, and more great musical experiences with concerts by Bjonko & Balkan Beat Band and the Celtic punk band Finnegan’s Hell, who will be closing the show tonight on the Europe Stage.

If you still haven’t visited Political Festival of Europe, it is not yet too late to do so, as the Festival continues in the coming days. See you there!

Political Festival of Europe is a central platform for European debates and will take place for the first time from 25 to 28 August 2022 in Mariager. A wide range of debates between European citizens and decision-makers on some of the most pressing issues will take place at the Festival. In addition to the many political events, the Festival will aæsp be a place where visitors can experience music, culture, and food from all over Europe. Our strength in Europe lies in our diversity, but we need a place where we can come together and discuss the future of Europe – that’s why we’re creating the Political Festival of Europe.

Velkommen til Political Festival of Europe

[…] Vi må ikke tage demokratiet for givet,

understregede Jeppe Kofod i ĂĄbningstalen. Tweet
