Ukrainian ambassador takes stock of Europe's role in Ukraine war

At the first edition of Political Festival of Europe in Mariager, ambassadors and experts will take stock of Europe’s position before and since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine six months ago.

With foreign policy being a central theme at Political Festival of Europe, Ukrainian Ambassador Mykhailo Vydionyk will meet Michael Aastrup Jensen (MP, Denmark’s Liberal Party), Czech Ambassador to Denmark Radek Pech, and Lisbeth Pilegård (CEO, Danish Institute for Parties and Democracy) for a debate moderated by Søren Dosenrode (Professor, Aalborg University).

On 24 February 2022, when Russia invaded Ukraine, Europe woke up to a new security situation. Traditionally, the EU’s security policy has been limited but due to the war, Europe is now confronted with a new reality with discussions about Europe’s common security coming to the forefront. At the same time, the situation raises the question of in how far the war could have been avoided if Europe had acted differently.

Russia's invasion of Ukraine has underlined the importance of Europe standing together. Consequently, we are entering a period in which foreign policy will undeniably take on greater importance in the EU. That's why it is key to talk about how we together can work on foreign policy in Europe,

says Stine Bosse, Chairman of the Political Festival of Europe. Tweet

The debate will take place on Sunday 28th August at 11.00-12.00 in Mariager on the Democracy Stage.

Foreign policy is an overarching theme in Mariager

Political Festival of Europe is built around a total of seven themes, which form the basis of the Festival’s content this year. In addition to foreign policy, other topics include business, democracy, culture, foreign policy, health and technology.

Political Festival of Europe is a central platform for European debates taking take place for the first time from 25 to 28 August 2022 in Mariager. A wide range of debates between European citizens and decision-makers on some of the most pressing issues will take place at the Festival. In addition to the many political events, the Festival will also be a place where visitors can experience music, culture, and food from all over Europe. Our strength in Europe lies in our diversity, but we need a place where we can come together and discuss the future of Europe – that’s why we’re creating the Political Festival of Europe.

udtaler Stine Bosse, Formand for Political Festival of Europe. Tweet
