a place of gathering to celebrate Europe's culture and heritage
and strengthen democracy conversation

"... treat yourself with a little veteran train ride between debates and exciting events in the Town of Roses", encourages Katrine BlĂĄberg Andersen, the veteran railway's operations manager.

Enjoy a 40-minute trip back in time with a vintage train trip from Mariager to Fjelsted.

From Mariager station, the trip goes out along Færgehagen and up through the beech forest at Lunddalen, where the train passes the “step board” with the same name and with beautiful Mariager Fjord in the background. The highest point of the track is the Fjelsted “stepping board”, which is 54 meters above the fjord. Here the train turns and returns to the City of Roses, where the many festival activities take place.

Departure from Mariager every hour

On Thursday, Friday and Saturday during the Festival, the veteran train runs between 11am and 5pm from Mariager station, every hour. The train ride takes place either in “The Red Ruby”, which is 70 years old, or in the beautiful teak lacquered train from the 1930s. The tickets can be bought at Mariager station and cost DKK 50. Children between 4-11 years are half price.

Bring cold or hot drinks with you on the train

Supplement the beautiful nature of the fjord with a refreshment, says the operations manager and continues: “Everything tastes twice as good in the old railway carriages”. The train trip welcomes the whole family and invite to enjoy the late summer next to Mariager Fjord and the breath of history.

Afgang fra Mariager hver time
