Spotlight on cyberbullying and wellbeing of young Europeans - Forum for International Cooperation presents solutions at Political Festival of Europe

At Political Festival of Europe, Forum for International Cooperation (FIC) will highlight the alarming issue of cyberbullying among young people across Europe.

The rapidly evolving phenomenon of cyberbullying Рbullying through social media, messaging platforms, gaming platforms etc. Рis a serious problem.  According to UNESCO, 33 percent of youth across the globe experience bullying online, and European countries, where children are the most at risk for online sexual exploitation and harmful material, include Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, and Norway (Source: European Parliament).

FIC invites citizens to learn more about this alarming issue on Saturday, 27th August at 10:00 in Volt’s Tent nr 120. In dialogue with experts Mette Frobenius and Zoé Elkær Nicot, the central question of the session will be the following: What can be done to tackle cyberbullying at European level?

Young people turn to their peers when they experience cyberbullying. It is therefore crucial that young people know what to do, when they themselves or others are exposed to cyberbullying,

explains Carsten Andersen, Director at FIC. Tweet

In dialogue with young people across Europe, FIC carried out a project aimed at identifying best practises and concrete tools. In cooperation with European partners from Italy, Serbia, Hungary, France and Denmark, 35 young people from the partner countries received training to become frontrunners of the project and were given concrete tools to disseminate knowledge about cyberbullying in their home countries.

Forum for International Cooperation is an international non-profit organisation operating in Denmark, Europe and East Africa (Tanzania and Kenya) since 1995. FIC aims at making global equality and solidarity a reality by increasing and developing people’s social, economical and democratic rights and promoting opportunities for better life conditions, regardless of their backgrounds or origins.

Our strength in Europe lies in our diversity, but we need a place where we can come together and discuss the future of Europe ‚Äď that‚Äôs why we‚Äôre creating the Political Festival of Europe.

forklarer Carsten Andersen, Direkt√łr hos FIC. Tweet
