Rasmus Prehn to talk about the sustainable transition in food production alongside international politicians

Danish Minister for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries Rasmus Prehn meets international politicians for a debate at Political Festival of Europe in Mariager.

With climate being one of Political Festival of Europe’s overarching themes, Rasmus Prehn will meet Thor Gunnar Kofoed (Vice Chairman, Landbrug & Fødevarer – Danish Agriculture), Søren Rasmussen (Director, Frandsbjerg Energy) and Francisco Guerreiro (MEP, Greens) in a debate on the future of food production.

As 30% of human greenhouse gas emissions come from food production*, this is an unavoidable topic when discussing climate solutions for the future. In Europe, there is broad support for the climate targets, but the big question remains: what solutions do we need in food production to meet those targets? In Denmark, with a broad political agreement on the green transformation of agriculture being concluded, we are well on our way to more sustainable food production. I look forward to discussing sustainability in the debate on future food production,

The debate will take place on Friday 26th August at 11.30-12.30 in Mariager.

Climate is an overarching topic in Mariager

Political Festival of Europe is built around a total of seven themes that set the foundation for the Festival’s content this year. In addition to climate, the themes include: business, democracy, culture, foreign policy, health and technology.

There is no doubt that climate plays a major role in pan-European discussions. It is by far the biggest challenge mankind has ever faced, and therefore climate policy will also be a big part of the Festival in Mariager. Our hope is that, through debate and dialogue, we can come closer to finding solutions to the climate crisis,

says Stine Bosse, Chairman for Political Festival of Europe. Tweet

Political Festival of Europe is a central platform for European debates and will take place for the first time from 25 to 28 August 2022 in Mariager. A wide range of debates between European citizens and decision-makers on some of the most pressing issues will take place at the Festival. In addition to the many political events, the Festival will aæsp be a place where visitors can experience music, culture, and food from all over Europe. Our strength in Europe lies in our diversity, but we need a place where we can come together and discuss the future of Europe – that’s why we’re creating the Political Festival of Europe.

Tweet

Debatten finder sted fredag d. 26. august kl. 11.30-12.30 i Mariager.

udtaler Stine Bosse, Formand for Political Festival of Europe. Tweet
