Health and future pandemics on the agenda at Political Festival of Europe

Next week, exciting speakers will meet to debate whether future pandemics should be tackled at a national or a European level.

At Political Festival of Europe, Susanne Zimmer (National Politician, The Alternative), Christian Friis Bach (Founder, Warfair and former Minister for Development Cooperation in Denmark), Claus Rehfeld (CEO, Nordic Healthcare Group) and Stine Bosse (Board Chair, Political Festival of Europe) will discuss the role of the EU in future health challenges.

Since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, health has become more important on the European agenda. Health systems in European countries differ widely – restrictions varied from country to country, and so did spread of the virus. In a globalised world, where travel and trade are a fundamental part of modern life, the pandemic brought to attention that health is not just a national issue, but also something that needs to be discussed internationally. The question now is whether future health problems should be addressed commonly at a European level – and if so, how?

This will be discussed on the Tech & Health Stage, Friday 26th August, 11.00-12.00 in Mariager, Northern Denmark. The debate will be moderated by Narcis George Matache, political advisor, S&D candidate and founder of Last Week in Denmark.

Health is an overarching theme in Mariager

Political Festival of Europe is built around a total of seven themes, which form the basis of the Festival’s content this year. In addition to health, the themes are business, climate, culture, democracy, foreign policy, and technology.

Covid-19 showed that Europe is strongest when we work together. We need to keep discussing how to take action in Europe, when the health challenges of the future knock on the door. We will put this on the agenda in Mariager, where I look forward to an exciting debate,

Political Festival of Europe is a central platform for European debates taking take place for the first time from 25 to 28 August 2022 in Mariager. A wide range of debates between European citizens and decision-makers on some of the most pressing issues will take place at the Festival. In addition to the many political events, the Festival will also be a place where visitors can experience music, culture, and food from all over Europe. Our strength in Europe lies in our diversity, but we need a place where we can come together and discuss the future of Europe – that’s why we’re creating the Political Festival of Europe.
