Children and youth: Your voice matters – come and join Political Festival of Europe

The very first Children’s Democracy Festival – “Børnenes Folkemøde” is happening under Political Festival of Europe. By giving a platform to all groups of society, including children and youth, the Festival takes its pride in creating a space and platform where everyone can be heard.

Political Festival of Europe will take place from 25th to 28th of August in Mariager, Northern Denmark and is a place for everyone, of all ages and from near and far. In an aim to give families, children, and youth a unique experience of democracy, a Children’s Democracy Festival is being organised under the lead of the local school in Mariager. Hundreds of children are expected at the Children’s Democracy Festival, happening by the harbour where a whole area has been dedicated to Children and Youth, – and you too are invited!

Additional activities for children and youth – organised by the municipality’s youth school, culture school and culture and leisure department – will also take place by the beach and library as well as the streets of Mariager.

Experiencing Europe through urban sports, rap shows and creative workshops

From Friday 26th of August, more than 30 events await Europe’s children and youth – all from children’s elections to street theatre and from “Rapolitics” to creative workshops.

Friday and Saturday, the harbour area will transform into an urban sports zone with skateboard, street soccer, parkour and kickboards taking over. There will be democracy- and Europe-focused workshops, activities and shows already from 9 o’clock in the morning, and all children and teens of all ages are invited to join. The activities are free of charge, and you can participate with your own equipment or by borrowing some at the Festival.

The activities can be explored here: https://www.mariagerfjord.dk/kultur-og-fritid/political-festival-of-europe and here: https://www.pfoe.org/music-and-culture/.

Meet the people you see on TV and speak your voice

When wandering between the harbour, the beach and the library, you, your friends and family can come and meet some people you know from TV, and also speak your voice.

All political debates on the official programme are designed in a way that the audience will have the opportunity to interact with the debaters – and this is where you can be a part of the discussion. So, if you are interested in climate, human rights or peace, or any other topics, make sure to pass by your chosen debate – you don’t want to miss out!

Political Festival of Europe is an annual democracy festival that serves as a platform for democratic dialogue about the most pressing issues on the European agenda. In addition to political events, the Festival is also a place of festivities that celebrates the rich and diverse culture and heritage of Europe. Our strength in Europe lies in our diversity, but we need a place where we can come together and discuss the future of Europe – that’s why we’re creating the Political Festival of Europe.

Det allerførste folkemøde for børn – “Børnenes Folkemøde” – finder sted under Political Festival of Europe.

Political Festival of Europa løber af stablen 25.

Aktiviteterne kan udforskes her: https://www.mariagerfjord.dk/kultur-og-fritid/political-festival-of-europe og her: https://www.pfoe.org/music-and-culture/.
