a place of gathering to celebrate Europe's culture and heritage
and strengthen democracy conversation

A ‘hygge’ atmosphere, vibrant streets and important discussions about the most pressing issues of Europe

Today we bid you welcome to the final day of Political Festival of Europe, after three exciting days. The first edition of the Festival filled the cobbled streets of Mariager with life, languages from across Europe and lovely encounters.

Yesterday’s programme in Mariager offered many debates on topics all from circular economy to Christianity and from green hubs to opportunities for female musicians. While there was an impressively large audience during multiple debates on the Foreign Policy Stage, debates on the Business Stage were taken outdoors and Emmelie de Forest’s concert filled the Europe area with people from all ages and from many countries.

The musical experiences were not limited to the diverse music programme of the day but could also be found in the Culture and Leisure area at the beach where young people were challenged to “Rapolitics” and rap battles. In fact, over 1,000 children and youth roamed around the beach and harbour areas for water activities, urban sports and talks about youth engagement in politics.

Bringing an ambition to life

Multiple partners and speakers at Political Festival of Europe have commended – both on stage and in informal conversations in the street – the Festival’s success in making its ambition a reality, and that is: fostering democratic dialogue between various parts of society.

“We have something in Europe that we do better than anywhere else, and that is a closer, more fruitful dialogue between the private sector and governments,” underlines Mikael Ekman, Director of Policy and Strategy at Microsoft, during the debate ‘Should the EU be a frontrunner in the next digital evolution?’ on the Tech & Health Stage.

After quizzes, concerts, church services and last debates, today the Festival will be concluded with speeches from the ambassador of Ukraine to Denmark Mykhailo Vydionyk, EU Commissioner Elisa Ferreira, Chairman of The North Denmark Region Mads Duedahl, and CEO for Political Festival of Europe Jan Bertelsen.

Come join the final day of the 2022 edition of Political Festival of Europe!

Political Festival of Europe is a central platform for European debates and will take place for the first time from 25 to 28 August 2022 in Mariager. A wide range of debates between European citizens and decision-makers on some of the most pressing issues will take place at the Festival. In addition to the many political events, the Festival will also be a place where visitors can experience music, culture, and food from all over Europe. Our strength in Europe lies in our diversity, but we need a place where we can come together and discuss the future of Europe – that’s why we’re creating the Political Festival of Europe.
